Harry - Kitten Watch Page 2

15th June 05

Harry’s first night was blissful, he was very good and although he slept on our bed - he was no trouble at all - he is fully litter trained. (How wrong we were).
Sacha adores him - although she gets concerned when he tries to suckle from her, you should see her face, bless her.
Our other cats are still disinterested in our new addition, which is normal.
Harry is a joy to watch, he is so tiny and so full of energy, it is like he has always been here. Oh, and he eats like a horse.

Harry's second day

17th June

Our little honey monster had a quiet time yesterday - he slept all day, and wouldn’t play. However, when it was time for bed, guess what? he wanted to play. The good news is as soon as the light was turned off, he settled down and consequently slept on my (now very stiff) neck, all night. At this minute (7 am), he is eating his Whiskas Kitten food - yummy!

I have been busy with my web site, however, little Harry has not been ignored, and is building up quite a fan club.
I have come to the conclusion that he is as cute as a button, and Sacha simply adores him. He is nearly eight weeks old now (old man), and they can play together without too much supervision - I still watch them, as Sacha is a lot bigger - but they are fine together. Much to Sacha’s consternation, he is still trying to feed from her (ouch!) - don’t worry Sacha, I am sure he will grow out of it soon.

Phew, he is very lively - I cannot keep up with him, and cannot catch him. I would do well as a wicket keeper for England’s cricket team this summer - not really!
When I fed Harry yesterday lunch time, I placed his food on the bench as usual and I turned my back for a moment, and guess what? - our greedy giant cats scoffed the lot.
As he gets older, he becomes more confident and more fun. He is as playful as a kitten.

24th June

Little tinker, because Harry has had a few indiscretions (toilet wise), he now lives with the big cats in their special (large) cats room. All our cats are house cats, and have a huge window facing our garden.
He loves his new room, and is using his litter and settling in nicely.  The room is next to my office, so he has plenty of attention from me Sacha and the big cats.  All cats welcome
him, especially Thomas, (he is the youngest at 5).
Jeoffrey, the eldest is 13 and is a bit hissy and spitty -
he is slowly accepting Harry.
When Jeoffrey “hit” Harry, Sacha ran to them and placed her head between Harry and Jeoffrey to protect Harry. Ahhh! how cute.

26th June - Ben and Harry

Ben with little Harry

Harry is now eating us out of house and home.
He cries (very loudly) to be fed approximately every minute - which of course, is impossible, as he would burst. It is getting more and more difficult to keep the big cats food safe from him - what a little horror.
He is such a loving kitten and a welcome addition to our potty animal family.

30th June

Eight weeks old and on a diet!
Because Harry has decided he can eat for England, we have put him on a diet, of sorts.
As he can climb mountains and gets onto the cats feeding areas, we have to ensure no food is left within Harry’s reach (and sniffing distance).
When Peter and I (and Sacha), come down in the morning, by the time we have gone into the kitchen, Harry has been in and out - about one hundred times.
I am getting quite concerned as he is at the stage of climbing up my legs to reach the feeding surfaces, that will be painful - I must remember to wear my jeans.
