You can tell a dog to do something,
you can put it to a cat as a reasonable proposition”.

Cats and kittens - an obsession?

Not long after we met, Peter and I took a holiday in the Dordogne region of France, where I was introduced to cats for the first time. We holidayed with relatives who happened to have two resident tabby cats named Lucy and Linus. Upon our return, (and for my nineteenth birthday), Peter presented me with a tiny (meowing) tabby-cat bundle we named Georgina. That was the start of our passion for cats.

---------

Many of our transient - and home cats, have been rescued from life threatening situations, and over the years, in addition to our home cats, we have cared for over forty rescued kittens, and cats - subsequently finding loving (monitored), homes for all.

---------

Ben (our large cuddly tabby), was rescued from a tree on
Bonfire Night 2002. Petrified by the loud and incessant firework bangs, he literally leapt from the tree into my arms. We brought him indoors where he spent a safe night with ourselves, Sacha, and resident cats. We offered Ben his freedom the next morning - only to see him walk back into our house a few minuets later, and he has lived with us ever since. Distressed and needy cats
(and pigeons), seem to know they are safe with us, and somehow find themselves on our doorstep -
patiently waiting to be rescued.
Naturally, we couldn’t possibly say no.

---------

When Jack (our large black cat), was a tiny six week old kitten, a friend of ours (Craig), asked us to look after him for a few weeks. Craig had recently found little Jack in a nearby back lane, and had taken him home to safety.
Craig was in the process of moving out of his mum’s
house, and much to her consternation, Jack’s favourite pastime was to dangle by his claws from his mum’s dogs’ noses. Naturally, Jack had to go, and fortunately for us, Craig thought of myself and Peter. That was eleven years ago, and we still have Jack.
Thankfully, Craig has very nearly forgiven us.
Craig originally named Jack Juniper, and was a little peeved at the name change - perhaps our next cat, or kitten
will be named Juniper.
